Group C- McChesney

McChesney's take on Journalism is something that I personally have contemplated as well. McChesney is right in saying that journalism (in this case, credible journalism) is being destroyed by the institution of the internet in the most basic sense. There are many news outlets which have lost their credibility due to an ever growing audience that are becoming more and more aware of how the news system operates and the idea that government relays the news stories that they want to- less about what is important and more about what might be interesting. The internet is such a broad base for this that the dynamic is becoming less trustworthy. And I also feel that way.
People are so on point and up-to-date on information logging now that all it takes is a press of a mobile app icon to be updated with the latest stories and events. The way that people received their information and their news stories are now becoming very obsolete. The internet has ushered out the traditional way of recieving news. This works for and against the people in a lot of ways.
Accuracy, as far as news stories is very important. So while an event may happen, it is always peppered with the perspective of the individual who gave the story. So while it may be important information, it is biased. Up-to-date, but biased, less professional, and in turn, less important to take note of. However, I know that I would personally check Twitter on an event before Fox News. Maybe that's something to take note of about the generational discrepancy.

Here is an article about how many adults get their news from social media as opposed to cable or newspapers.
